What i'm up to!

Hey readers!!

So i'm heading to work and on breaks I'll be finishing up Winter by Marisa Meyer! BUT I wanted to share a shop I found and love on etsy! I don't know about you but I love having a warmer or candle going to set the mood while I read. The scents make me calm and happy! So I recently placed an order for THIS candle and I LOVE it! It came wrapped up with a bow and everything! I've already placed two orders and want to place another! I gave this purchase five stars! She was super quick with responses and shipping- although buying one candle at a time does save you on shipping due to weight. She was kind and even included a few tea candles for me to try out which I loved! So i would you need some awesome soy candles check her out! Soy candles are better for the air and smell better if you ask me! And these are really priced well! I love them! I'll be back for sure and she will even do custom scents! I see some Harry Potter scent requests in her future. Lol

Other thank that I've been shopping and working! My son's birthday is tomorrow and you can bet he got a bunch of new books for us to read together! :D can't wait to bond over new books!!

Hope you enjoy! Tell me what you're reading!!

See you soon- Bookish Mom

The lunar chronicles by Marissa Meyer

Hey readers!! I'm sorry I've been so absent!! I moved, had my computer crash, started a new job and just unpacked my computer and got it working when i discovered the Internet at my new place super sucks. So please bear with me.

I started this series because i heard the hype but all i knew is that it was a fairytale retelling of a cyborg Cinderella. This is all I'm going to tell YOU about the book because the not knowing made this series soooo much better! Now I'm currently reading Winter, the conclusion to the series and i own Fairest and will read that after winter but i wanted to post about this series anyways. I LOVED CINDER. everything about Cinder was awesome. WHO cinder turns out to be was pretty obvious from the beginning but other than that the storyline is amazing. The characters are amazing and the plot is amazing. CINDER is a bad ass. Now in Scarlet and Cress i was actually a little disappointed i didn't get to just read about Cinder, but i loved that Cinder was still moving the lot forward and we still got her story and more. Cinder is the best retelling I've ever read to date. The first three books I've read have been awesome. Winter is going a little slower for me but i think that's because i want stuff to happen already. Cinder, Scarlet and Cress were all full of really strong characters. Their personalities are all unique and they have quite strong females. I really enjoy the personalities and relationships in these books. So far Winter is a little coo coo for coco puffs, and i haven't connected with her as a person, and Levanna...well i want to know why she wears that ring and what it means to her which I'm sure to find out in Fairest. But so far Cinder, the first book is my favorite. Cinder and Kaito are my favorite characters, even though Cinderella's Disney version and snow white are my least favorite princesses. Marissa Meyer reinvents these old fairy tales and turns them into new and engrossing tales of strength, willpower and overcoming adversity and not to mention just plain girl power. Which i think in the earlier Disney movies, girls were very much damsels in distress and here in this amazing world they are the power houses. NONE of the women you meet in this series are helpless or untalented. i LOVED that about this series. I never would have guessed any of their jobs based on the reviews i had read and i read a ton, and i love that because that surprise i felt from the first chapter stuck with me. These chicks will stop at nothing to make sure the world is righted and they protect those they love. Sure each character has flaws but boy are they each still strong and interesting. I love this series and keep trying to find awesome quotes and tattoos from the books and haven't found much yet but i love it so much i will be stealing quotes for my wall and possibly even my skin one day. Just read them. If a cyborg Cinderella doesn't sound up your alley but bad ass princess or just bad ass chick does- read it. Just do it. I already have heartless by Marissa on my to-read list. Which is her soon to come Alice in wonderland retelling.

My best friend actually loves to read but has been in a reading slump and i found this series really really cheap on bookoutlet.com and Cinder was less than $3 so i bought her a copy and sent it to her because i thought she would love it. So if you love it, shout it out here and share your love!!

Sound like you need this book or you wanna check it out?? HERE is the link to the amazon page so you can read about all of them on amazon.

HERE is the first FIVE chapters of Cinder on kindle for FREE.

A court of mist and fury by Sarah J Maas- review

Hello readers!!!

I just finished this book and as promised here comes my review! Five stars. I loved this book! The court of thrones and roses was good but I wasn't amazed. This book on the other hand kept me guessing and on my toes. The ending!!!!! Ugh!! Guys I cant wait for the next book!!!! Prepare for spoilers because i'm about to get real! So if you don't want to read spoilers just know I gave it five stars and go buy it. Then thank me in the comments! ;)

So this book is so much more than I expected! This book really touched on emotional abuse and the delusions of the abuser. Now i'm going to get personal with you guys. My ex-husband was very emotionally abusive, and like Tamlin he appeared to be a Prince Charming until I fought against his control. He Let me do what I wanted until he married me. Then isolated me, belittled me, Forced himself on me and MORE. What Tamlin does in this book reminds me of my exhusband a lot! He to the very end is convinced Feyre MUST love and want him. My exhusband did this same thing, even after I finally got away and divorced him he insisted I loved him and had delusions that he treated me "perfectly" he genuinely felt his lying, Stealing, cheating, emotional and sexual abuse was nothing compared to the love I had for him. He was wrong just as Tamlin was wrong. I love seeing Rhysand be the hero nobody expected! In the first book I thought he was just some arrogant prick and I got fiesty when others said they loved him. But we find out everything he did and he's not longer a "bad boy" (which aren't my type) and he becomes this true king! Feyre is his absolute equal and you see that by the end of the book. It was realistic that Feyre compared Rhysand and Tamlin, because I too have done this and wondered if the man I care about is being like my ex and trying to manipulate me or if there is a genuine reason for the things they do. This book hints at a few mates coming up! Lucien, fuck him for not helping Feyre and not stepping up but I hope he changes and steps up for Elain. Then Nesta! What will she be??  Obviously she is Cassian's mate and I love that! I think their fire will be perfect together and want them to both feel loved. Then Morrigan and Azriel!! I want them to finally make it happen and I think Az almost dying has made Mor realize that he's it. This book has so many elements! The parts that affected me most were the Feyre, Tamlin and Rhysand's growing story, because as I mentioned I've been there and in the first book I thought it HAD to be Tamlin because she sacrificed herself for him, but it's realistic again to see someone give their everything to the wrong person. I want to be someone's equal and be secure in feeling that I haven't picked wrong again. I also loved that it wasn't insta-love or insta-sex with Rhysand and Feyre. The guilt she felt was all a very real part of it too. I loved that everyone slowly became family to Feyre and it wasn't easy or instant either. I can't wait to see what everyone and their relationships become! Not to mention Amren! Where will she be in the next book? Who will she become?? I loved all the small little things in the first book that I look back on and go- damn it! I shouldn't saw that coming! or damn that was a good way to weave that in! I mean Rhys sending the music for Feyre! That was a clever way to show us he always cared. I'm worried that Feyre will have to bed Tamlin and the thought makes me sick to my stomach because he is a low life horrible high lord. I hope that Feyre gets her kicks in when she's there! I wonder what Lucien will do with Feyre back and I hope she kicks his ass too.  But I love that once the true bond was established it couldn't be broken and that true mates and equals remained! Ok, so basically I loved this book and will definitely be buying the next one!

So many things I want to know!! I need the next book!! Go get it!!! HERE is the link

New books to read!!

Hey readers,

Today there was a book sale going on and of course I had to shop because for once I had money and my birthday is coming up so I felt it was a gift to myself! I ended up getting 9 books for $30!!! Yes!!! I also bought a few books this last week prior to this sale! So i'm going to let know know what they are so you can expect reviews from them!
Firstly I've had a MAJOR headache so I haven't finish a court of mist and fury yet, but when I do, a review will be posted! I have fringe runner by Rachel aukes that I will be reading a reviewing! This one was an ARC so of course as always I will give it my HONEST review. I have the cruel crown by Victoria Aveyard that my son got me for Mother's Day that I still have to read. Plus my son has my birthday present (shadow queen) on the way here so he can write in it and give it to me.  The night circus by Erin morganstern, which I just gave as a gift to my friend and bought myself a copy as well because I haven't read it yet. Paradox by A.J Paquette, which I got for less than a buck today during the sale, Cinder which I got in the mail today!! Yay! Plus I picked one up for my best friend because I know she hasn't gotten to read it yet either. Then I picked up Scarlett and Cress today on sale! The eye of minds by James dashner- because I loved his maze runner series and it was on sale! sea of shadows by Kelly Armstrong because of the blurb. Incarceron by Catherine Fisher because it sounded really good based on the blurb. Ruin and rising by Leigh Bardugo even though I have NOT read the first two, but I've been planning to for a while and this book was on sale for $4 brand new in hard back so yes, I bought it! Same with ignite me by Tahereh Mafi, I haven't read the first two but I definitely plan to and it was $3!!! So I need to buy the four books going with these but i'm happy to get the ones I got on sale! I was on YouTube yesterday and ran across a book called Black prism by Brent Weeks and I watched a few reviews on this book and then saw it was only $2.99 on Amazon kindle so I bought it because it really sounded good! The magical system is based on light and the main character is one of the most powerful wielders BUT as you use magic you slowly die or go crazy and he has to get back to his son! So it sounded really good to me!

So look out for all these reviews and of course more because I also have a bunch on my kindle to read.

I can't WAIT to get all these books in the mail! Tomorrow i'm getting the wedding dress by Rachel hauck for wedding gift to a friend getting married this month. I'll write a little note to her in it and ship it off to its new home via media mail!

So basically this whole coping with moving thing stressed me the hell
Out and i'm definitely still adjusting and so it my son and dog, plus i'm looking for work so that's my excuse for going on a huge book shopping spree. It was a splurge but for once I could afford to do it and it was really really nice. The deals were great! My birthday is next week and I deserve a little bit of something I love! I love reading so much and I love holding a book in my hand but i'm still all about cheap and affordable books and I accomplished saving money and getting something I love so I'm going to say it worth it and hopefully I love all my new books.

Here's my book that came in today! Cinder! Cyborg Cinderella! I know everyone has hyped it up and read it already but I couldn't afford it until now so i'm glad to finally get my hands on it.  Hoping it was worth the hype.

Happy reading!! Let me know what YOU are planning to read or are currently reading!! - Bookish Mom

The queen of tearling by Erika Johansen

Heya ladies and gents!!

This book was pretty good! Some parts did get slow or predictable. Some of the Guards blurred together for me but I enjoyed Kelsea. The fetch, Mace and Pen and their personalities. I loved Kelsea's conviction and determination and want to see her become a great queen. Parts with the red queen were really predictable for me. Dark force she uses to get stronger. Typical. I enjoyed Kelsea looking back on her teachings and finally understanding. I didn't enjoy the many mentions of rape so casually and mostly blown off by the majority of characters. I wanted Andalie to murder her husband and kill him slowly and I couldn't quite understand her protecting him. Although I've faced an abusive husband, and I got out, and I did protect him in a way by not talking shit about him to my son and allowing him to love his father, but I've also called the cops on him when I needed to.
I did want Andalie to strike back and take a stand for all the women in the book. So in a way I understand why she protected him to an extent, but I wanted her to take action. I understand in the sense that you don't want to kill your children's father and hurt them, but it's a book so kill his ass. The necklace was an interesting twist and I really want to know who the fetch is! i'm wondering if the fetch is her father or an ancestor of Kelsea's. I loved how protective Pen is and I predict a love story coming involving him. I loved mace and his fatherly role, although I didn't quite agree with Kelsea about him being a dog without a leash. I think he did the right things in protecting her. I see him as a father figure for her. I want to see what happens to all the characters in this story and how they grow and evolve! The ending was the strongest part of the book for me but i'm intrigued and will read on!

Here's the blurb!
On her nineteenth birthday, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, raised in exile, sets out on a perilous journey back to the castle of her birth to ascend her rightful throne. Plain and serious, a girl who loves books and learning, Kelsea bears little resemblance to her mother, the vain and frivolous Queen Elyssa. But though she may be inexperienced and sheltered, Kelsea is not defenseless: Around her neck hangs the Tearling sapphire, a jewel of immense magical power; and accompanying her is the Queen’s Guard, a cadre of brave knights led by the enigmatic and dedicated Lazarus. Kelsea will need them all to survive a cabal of enemies who will use every weapon—from crimson-caped assassins to the darkest blood magic—to prevent her from wearing the crown.
Despite her royal blood, Kelsea feels like nothing so much as an insecure girl, a child called upon to lead a people and a kingdom about which she knows almost nothing. But what she discovers in the capital will change everything, confronting her with horrors she never imagined. An act of singular daring will throw Kelsea’s kingdom into tumult, unleashing the vengeance of the tyrannical ruler of neighboring Mortmesne: the Red Queen, a sorceress possessed of the darkest magic. Now Kelsea will begin to discover whom among the servants, aristocracy, and her own guard she can trust.

Can she save her kingdom??

Throne of glass by Sarah J Maas review.

Good evening followers!

Let me start off by saying this book was SOOO hyped up! I watched vlog reviews all saying it has the best female heroine ever written and how amazing Calaena is. Well sorry to disappoint but I wasn't wowed and found this book over hyped. I LIKED it, but I didn't LOVE it. I didn't find her annoying and arrogant like some people, but I didn't think she was that big of a badass either.  I probably would've enjoyed this book more if it wasn't so hyped up. I feel like all the hype took away from it because I was expected to be amazed and wasn't. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best female lead I ever read either. I disliked the prince and felt that Chaol was a much better fit and I personally liked him much more. I feel like she's just a novelty idea to the prince and something "different" to attract him. I also think Calaena just wants attention because she's used to being feared and is into the prince just because he's there and flinging himself at her. So that was disappointing to me. This is a fault I find in her character. I'd personally rather her not be interested in men and then finally one day find someone she just couldn't deny she had a thing for. I think Chaol was more true in intentions and more centered and a healthier fit for her personally.

It was one of those books that if I get the rest of the series from the library or free then I'll read them, but I won't go out and spend money on them because I just wasn't very wowed by this book.

BUT don't like my opinion stop you from picking it up! If you wanna check it out click HERE.

My computer is down!

Hey readers.

Excuse my absence! My computer is broken currently so i'm having to use my phone with limited WIFI. I need to write reviews for throne of glass, and the queen of tearling. I'm currently a quarter of the way through a court of mist and fury and i'ma just say that the male lead in my heart has changed! I was all team Tamlin in court of thrones and roses. BUT he's been emotionally abusive as of yet in this book and Rhysand may be the dick who made her spend a week of her life with him every month, but he isn't abusive and he has saved her more than once. So this is me switching teams. Expect a review for court of mist and fury along with a talk about emotional abuse and my thoughts.

Sorry for not posting sooner. I literally haven't been able to get a good enough signal to post!!

Post reviews soon- Bookish mom!

The Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout

Hey awesome people!!

The Lux series, i decided I needed to write a review for it because it's actually one of my all time favorites and i've actually read it multiple times.
The first time i read this book i was at Lake tahoe and i was on the beach in my bikini reading and within the first few chapters i was giggling and truly enjoying it. I love this series. Think sexy aliens!! YES, aliens, but not the normal green glowing ones you might imagine. This series has it all for me. The humor, relationships, friendships, the plot, everything in this series is on point. This was the first series i read by Jennifer and it's my personal favorite BUT i have read a ton of her books and she's an author that i know anything she writes i will enjoy. This series has action, romance, betrayal, loyalty, fantasy/sci-fi, and more. I love all the characters, some you love to hate and some you just love. The female lead is Katy and she is incredibly realistic and i love her. Then come Daemon the male lead and all his glorious sexiness. Then there is Daemon Sister and my favorite side character of all time. Then add in all the other characters that come in and it's an explosion of awesome. I even have Oblivion which is the first book in Daemon's point of view. I have the kindle version which actually has the first three books in his point of view. I bought this whole series in collectors edition volumes because they came with bonus scenes.

This series NEVER get's old for me, i could re-read it over and over and not get tired of it. The characters continue to change and then you add in new characters that you fall in love with and frankly the end of the series wasn't enough for me. it was an awesome ending but i wanted even more about these characters. I want to see them grow up and who their kids will be and what happens with their kids and everything. it's one of those series i never wanted to end. I love the characters so much. The witty comebacks, sarcasm and friendships are so real and i love it. You will fall in love i just know it!

The first volume you can find HERE Contains 2 books.

The second volume you can find HERE Contains 2 books

The fifth book you can find HERE Contains 1 book.

The first book in paperback or first three books on kindle in Daemon's point of view can be found HERE

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton review

Good morning readers!

Today i want to talk about Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. I first heard of this book on facebook. I was on facebook and a book related page i follow posted an excerpt of the first 2 chapters i believe before the book was released. The hype was real and I had to admit that after reading the excerpt i was going to read the books. When i read the excerpt my first impression was a middle eastern, western book. Like saloons and cowboys in the middle east. Now that's just the first impression, and those two things aren't found in my typical reading list. But i was drawn in by the blue eyed bandit. So the day my library got it, it was in my hands. As i was reading i was thinking, ok there's a little bit of magic in here, but i didn't think it was much. As i continued to read i realized there was a lot more to this book than middle eastern, western. I will say that i'm NOT going to tell you how because i think that's part of the magic of this book, not knowing what all this book has in store for you adds to the book i think.

I did not expect the info laid on me towards the end. Up until they got where they were going i was still thinking it was a desert, and a girl who just wanted to get out and go somewhere more prosperous. But i'm going to read the next book because once she laid out the info on what the story was REALLY about i was way more intrigued. I enjoyed this book but i think the next one will be better. The next one i think will have all the real adventure in it. The character's we meet at the end are all very interesting and i want to get to know them more.

Interesting book. If you have ever just wanted to escape where you are, or felt that being female didn't get you as many places as being male then you might relate to this book. This book hits on a few interesting points about being a young girl in a world ruled by men.

So if you are interested then check it out Here

Where i get my books...

Hello bibliophiles!

So I got to thinking about how just last night i was hunting for a couple books because i decided i HAD to have them. I'm a single mom so i was looking for cheap as possible, and we don't have a local bookstore here so i knew i'd have to pay shipping. So i thought i'd share the places i get my books.

Firstly, let's start off with ARC's or books i win.

Facebook- I enter giveaways and interact with authors and other readers. sometimes i win a book and sometimes an author sees my comment and gifts me an e-book.

Goodreads- again i enter giveaways and sometimes i'm lucky enough to win.

Netgalley- i request for ARC's and sometimes the publishers give them to me.

Other places i get books---->

Friends!!- sometimes i ask my friends if they own a book and if available they will loan it to my on my kindle. (if you don't know how to loan a book on kindle check out my old posts, one of them tells you how. May the odds be ever in you favor) I recently had my friend agree to loan me throne of glass by sarah j maas so you will see that on here after i move.

The library!!- Borrow a book for free!! yay!

Amazon- Where i get a huge amount of e-books. I also get books for myself and books i want to gift here as well. Or when i know i need to shop there anyways and i have a book i want to buy, i will buy them together to save on shipping. Decent shipping times, and sometimes faster if you have prime or get lucky.

Booksy- you can get free books for your device here! you can also look up bargain booksy and get bargain books. Both places you sign up for emails. Mine are daily, you can do weekly or monthly as well. They will send you emails for free or bargain books in genres you pick via email.

Bookbub- basically the same thing as booksy.

Barnes&Noble- I love that barnes and noble now offers new and used books. SO they allow you to purchase through them from a third party- and even new books from third party are often cheaper than their readily buy-able books. Which is convenient for me because i don't have to do as much searching. I love that i can find 1.99 used books with like 3 dollar shipping. It works for me. If you buy used make sure you look at what condition it comes in. I'm picky i don't want my book written in when i buy them and like them in pretty good condition. Shipping depends on the seller. Barnes and noble books (directly from b&n) are actually decent on shipping and you can buy your book and pick it up in your local store, sometimes within an hour. Also if you are a barnes and noble member you get exclusive discounts and free two day shipping which I love.

Thriftbooks- Which you can find on barnes and noble, but sometimes barnes and noble doesn't list them. they sell cheaper used books. I will say their new books are basically full price. BUT if you know a book you don't mind getting used and it's been out a while you may find a good price at thriftbooks. Again check the condition of the books before you buy them. It will give you details of what "good" "acceptable" and ect mean. BUT pretty slow shipping, so that's something to keep in mind. it can take a little over two weeks.

Ebay- This is where i found the queen of tearling last night. 4 bucks, free shipping, hardback and in "good condition" I did buy it used but It was such a great deal and looked like it'd be in pretty good condition that i just couldn't turn it down because i've heard amazing things about this book. shipping obviously depends on the seller.

Book outlet- Where I find books on sale! I just picked up the 100 book for less than $2!! Then got Cinder for less than $5! Shipping is now a $5 flat rate. Shipping is through UPS. They take about two weeks to get to you in the US.

Book depository- Where you can get free shipping for a whole bunch of countries! I just got my dad the Six of crows audio book from here and my son picked me out the shadow queen hardback! Shipping to the USA takes 2 days to ship and 5-8 to get there. So not bad. The free shipping is great for those of you looking to buy books internationally that you might not have in your area. They also have pretty good prices. My dad's audio book was $10!

Well there you have it. Those are the main places i get my books. I do give my son a list of books i want for holidays and if he's inclined to get me a book, he picks one out and i buy it. I also ask my boyfriend for books and some holidays he gets me books. Although i have books from like 3 christmases ago that he got me and its book 14, and 2 from two different series that i don't own...So i have yet to read them. Then my boyfriend's mom also likes to send me books on occasion because she also loves to read and she will buy used books for me. Then my one aunt every once in a blue moon sends me a book out of nowhere that she loves or heard is amazing.

I get my dad audio books for a bunch of holidays. he can't see well enough to read anymore so I like to still give him the gift of books. He loves middle grade fantasy books so i think i need to get him the percy jackson series next. He knows harry potter like he wrote it, he's read it so many times. He loved the maze runner series i got him as well. His favorite book besides harry potter is ender's game. So if you like middle grade books there's some you may like. Note the maze runner is YA. So there's some recommendations for you while you finish reading this!!

So readers, Go and get more books!! -Bookish Mom

The raven boys by Maggie Stiefvater review

Hello Dreamers!

So I picked this series up at the library a few weeks ago and i just got to read the first one, The raven boys.  i didn't know what to expect because although i saw random hype for it, i didn't really pay attention. But i recognized the newest books at the library and knew it wasn't gonna last through the day at the library because new releases take months on hold for you to get your turn. So i grabbed the first book and read the blurb and decided i wanted to read it so i grabbed the whole series!

I loved this book. I gave it 5 stars, It got me interested right off the bat. I will say it slowed down for me a ton when it was Whelk's turn to have a chapter but that's because i experienced instant hate for him. I have no clue what set me off but i just instantly hated him so i hated being in his head and reading his parts. on the contrary i instantly had a odd connection with Ronan. I loved that he was so blunt and forward yet humorous. Not to mention his description was sexy. I love a buzz cut. Some might find him too damaged but i felt he was a likeable damaged. Adam on the other hand was just ehhhh, he seems a little too jealous and off for me. Gansey- well the name was a hard one for me. In my head i kept saying Gains-ley, no clue why. So it took me stopping the book to look up the meaning of his name for it to sink in for me. (it means a type of scottish shirt) I didn't fall for Gansey, he was chill but i didn't find him super lovable. I'm hoping in the next book we see more of who he really is and the deeper link to Blue and Glendower. The character's were EXCELLENTLY written. Every character being distinct and having their very own style and definite personalities. I find in some books the characters can blend into each other and not be as easy to tell the differences in personality. Maggie did a great job making every single character full and unique and i really enjoyed that. Even Blue and her family are all VERY different despite them all living together and having the same job. I enjoyed Blue and felt she was quirky and likeable. By the end of the book though i will say i'm not really liking Adam and think i'm going to hate him in the next book.

I loved the hints left in the book that foreshadowed things to come later. Like Noah not eating. I remember thinking, "wow, this noah kid isn't around as much or involved as much as the other three, what's the point of even putting him in the book?" Which now i realize why she did that! Then the psychic  readings and figuring out how they applied as well. Like Blue not putting her thumb in when she punches thing.

Not to mention the plot was always going somewhere and it kept my interest. THEN the ending! Even just the very last line of the book had me hooked to where i knew i HAD to read the next book. Which i will probably start tonight.

I will say i think the last (current) book's name i feel gives a little away. It's called raven king and i feel like that tells us they will in fact find the raven king. But hey whatever.

I really enjoyed this book and if you like young adult fantasy i recommend this book to you!

Check it out! The raven boys is an awesome book if you ask me.  Next i will be reading the Sequel The dream thieves if you want to read it with me! .

Miss peregrine's home for peculiar children by Ransom Riggs review

Hello Readers!

Let's talk about Miss peregrine's home for peculiar children by Ransom Riggs. This book was super hyped up and a ton of my friend's gave it five stars and told me i HAD to read it. Well i'm going to disappoint you sadly. This book was good but not GREAT in my opinion. Firstly it's classified as a fantasy young adult book...I definitely thought it was not young adult and way more middle grade. All the "children" seemed to be 18 and under. Each child seemed too juvenile to qualify as a young adult and i didn't feel they faced young adult issues, Not only that but it went REALLY slow for most the book for me. I feel like we learn more about WHAT the characters are and not WHO they really are. Which i was disappointed in. The book had some good moments, and it wasn't a bad book but it didn't live up to it's hype at all for me. I feel like the Percy Jackson books are a much better middle grade fantasy series to read. It just didn't do much for me. I liked the mystery of grandpa's past and the anticipation of what he would find at the school more than i actually enjoyed what he found. I gave it three stars. I might read the rest of the series just to see if we really get to meet everyone's personalities in the next book but even the ending of this one wasn't very anything. Not good or bad, just an ending.

It was a letdown for me but don't let my opinion stop you from actually checking it out and reading it! I wanna know your thoughts and how it was for you.

currently reading!!

Hey awesome readers!!

I wanted to give you an update on my current reading list!

I'm currently reading Altacia by Tracey M Joyce. So far it's taking me a while to finish. It's pretty slow to start and usually I'd read something with 300ish pages in about 5 hours and my kindle is showing i have 7 hours left...
I got this title free off of netgalley, they also gave me Asena Blessed to read and review.
So far they are on a boat and traveling to find land and it looks like it's just about to get interesting as we see "magic" for the first time at the part i'm at right not in Altacia.

I'm also currently reading Mister O by Lauren Blakely, which so far is good, but nearly as much sex as i expected. But i enjoy the characters personalities and i love that the female lead is a hufflepuff just like me!
Now i will say this book is some sort of special and i'll tell you why! I sent my boyfriend the link and told him next time he wanted to get me hot to send it to me since i had heard it was amazingly sexy. Well he accidentally sent himself a free sample. Now my boyfriend is NOT a reader. he basically only reads war books and star wars. But he started this sample and enjoyed it so much he bought the book and we are reading it from a distance together. I love that this book is made primarily for a female audience and yet me and my boyfriend are enjoying it. A avid reader and a rarely pick up a book guy! I think it's pretty awesome!!

Here's the book that just came in the mail today!! It's so very beautiful!! Look at that cover!!
Court of mist and fury by Sarah J Maas. I can't wait to read this one but it has to wait because i have a huge to-read list of books i NEED to read, like ARC's i need to review and library books i have to return before i move.   624 pages of awesome story here that i need to read!! This book if you didn't know is the sequel to court of thorns and roses which is a fae version of beauty and the beast. I will definitely be writing a review for this book once i get the chance to read it. for now it's sure beautiful to look at and own!!

Have a great day- Bookis Mom

the glass sword by Victoria Aveyard

Hey bibliophiles!!!

Let's talk about the red queen sequel!! The Glass Sword!!

I LOVE THIS BOOK <3 I just love it.

I loved the red queen and the same day i finished it i went out and got a signed first edition copy of this book and it did NOT disappoint.

This book has so many things i loved. It's one of my favorites. I could read it over and over. It has incredibly complex characters, action, revenge, hierarchy, powers/gifts, political drama, division, and of course drama and a romance. (well kind of) I love that it doesn't FOCUS on the romance. It's everything i love. I read this book in one sitting and ate it whole like it was my last meal. I cried at one point. Even the side characters are amazing and i could see them getting their own books or novellas down the line. It's a beautiful combination of letters creating a story i never want to lose. THE CLIFFHANGER was a bitch. I'll say that but i'll also say i'll have the next book in hand the day it comes out. I don't OWN the red queen because i borrowed it from the library BUT my birthday is next month and i did ask for a signed copy to match my glass sword copy.

If you love fantasy, young adult, division of blood classes, and great writing i suggest you pick up this book. Well actually i suggest you get both the books and the novellas! ;)

There wasn't a single thing i disliked from either book in the series and I got the novella Cruel crown which has both the novellas in it for mother's day so i'll definitely be reading that soon.
I just love this series. I just do. It kept me on my toes, It kept me guessing and entertained. I felt it never was slow or hard to get through. Not to mention as her debut series Victoria Aveyard did AMAZING! top notch work. I loved it! I of course now follow her on facebook, goodreads, and amazon.

Paper Princess by Erin Watt

Good morning world,

Yesterday I discovered you can lend and borrow books via kindle, or kindle app! So I posted on one of my favorite book groups and met a sweet girl who lent me paper princess in exchange for me lending her some Ginger Scott. keep in mind it appears the UK kindlers can't lend and borrow.

So I started this book and was immediately drawn in. The book is written by Jen Frederick and Elle Kennedy under the pen name Erin Watt. I don't want to give anything away so I'm just going to write my over all thoughts and emotions on this book!

Firstly, if you like sassy, confident and defiant heroines, READ this book. If you love some sexy bad boys who drive you nuts but, you want anyways, READ this book. This book took me in and spat me out! In the last five minutes of the book my heart raced and i was sweating and in that last page my breathe was stolen away. I was left awake at 11:30pm as a mom with a major book hangover. I couldn't think of anything else but what happened next and all the possibilities. When I finally went to sleep I was continually awaken by my neighbors being loud fucks, and then once by my son. Each time I woke up the book and what happened and what might happen raced through my head and I couldn't escape it.  I returned the book to the new friend of mine i borrowed it from and I went and posted on social media and messages my reading friends that they NEED this book. They all have similar tastes as me so I knew it'd be a hit with them as well. I can honestly say I gave this book a 5 stars and it absolutely deserves it. It's one of the best books I've read in a long time.  This book is amazing! It's sassy, sexy, intriguing, tempting, heart racing, pulsing and alive. I honestly loved this book and will be picking up books from both authors in the future. I even looked for a signed copy of the book online and had no luck!   In short, buy this book and eat it up and let it destroy you.
The next book releases July 25,2016 and the one after that in October 2016. I know because I was pissed I have to wait and wanted to find a way to magically have the next book appear in my hands.

Here is the link on how to lend and borrow books on kindle! http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200549320

and here's the link to this awesome book

the escaped series by Kristin Cast

Hello Readers!!

I just finished reading Kristin Cast's amber smoke and scarlet rain! I was given these to review! Amber smoke is currently out and available. Scarlet rain comes out in a few days on May 17th,2016.

If you do not know who Kristin is she did a series with her mom call the house of might series which was a vampire YA novel. Her escaped series is her first solo series and is a contemporary, new adult series.

I went into this series thinking it was all fantasy and about mythology!! WELL it's not! this series is like a combo of mythology with CSI. Its very descriptive in the crime scenes so those with queasy tummies may not be up for it. Scarlet rain also gives off a zombie-like vibe although there are no REAL zombies in the book.

I enjoyed both these books they weren't what i was expecting. Scarlet rain does have a cliffhanger that will make you want to not wait for the next book- which we in fact have to wait for. BOO.  Haha!

The character's are all likeable and I really wanted to get to know them better after reading Amber smoke and was glad i got to do that in scarlet rain. The main character's best friend Bridget is pretty amusing and there is one scene that gets pretty steamy so it's definitely an adult read.

The plots were more fast paced than i expected and these are both quick and easy reads. With each book coming in on just over 200 pages these books fly by. I had no issues staying into the books and i found that the plot wasn't repetitive and was pretty unique.

I'm just guessing here But i got the feeling that part of this book was very personal to the author and that i was looking into part of her life. As i mentioned the author and her mother wrote the house of night series together. Well Kristin is of darker skin than her mother and in the books we Meet Eva who loves her mother and doesn't know much about her dad but knows she got her darker complexion from him. Now i don't know for a fact that these things are related but i loved that i felt like she was writing part of herself into the book and it made me feel more connected to her character Eva.

If these books sound up your alley here are the links!!

Hope you enjoyed my review!  Have fun reading! -Bookish Mom

court of thorns and roses by Sarah J Maas

Hello, readers!

I finished a court of thorns and roses by Sarah J Maas last week and I want to share my thoughts!

Now this is a slight re-telling of beauty and the beast, BUT add in some fae and some twists.

I read reviews before I read this book and I can say the negative one's a read I felt were dead wrong! One reviewer said that the main character Feyre was a Bella swan pretending to be Katniss everdeen. I completely disagree. I think she was her own character and couldn't at all relate to her as bella. This book gets a little naughty and being that it has fae it's safe to assume it's not a play by play of the disney version of beauty and the beast. BUT I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the characters and their personalities and growth. I loved that we also see her family members start to grow. I was so into this book and only had about 30 pages left and I felt there would be a huge cliffhanger because there just wasn't enough time to fit everything in. So I ordered the court of mist and fury before I even finished the book. Well then I finished the book and guess what??? NO CLIFFHANGER!! None. I was shocked!!

I was intrigued in how the story played out and another reviewer said she wanted Feyre to end up with another male character in the book and i have to disagree again i felt after all she over came for the one she ends up with that it was a good fit for her and plus I disliked the other male character and I'll be looking to see what sneaky shit he has up his sleeves in the court of fury and mist

Here's the blurb-----When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin--one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin--and his world--forever.

Here's the amazon link to buy it.
