A court of mist and fury by Sarah J Maas- review

Hello readers!!!

I just finished this book and as promised here comes my review! Five stars. I loved this book! The court of thrones and roses was good but I wasn't amazed. This book on the other hand kept me guessing and on my toes. The ending!!!!! Ugh!! Guys I cant wait for the next book!!!! Prepare for spoilers because i'm about to get real! So if you don't want to read spoilers just know I gave it five stars and go buy it. Then thank me in the comments! ;)

So this book is so much more than I expected! This book really touched on emotional abuse and the delusions of the abuser. Now i'm going to get personal with you guys. My ex-husband was very emotionally abusive, and like Tamlin he appeared to be a Prince Charming until I fought against his control. He Let me do what I wanted until he married me. Then isolated me, belittled me, Forced himself on me and MORE. What Tamlin does in this book reminds me of my exhusband a lot! He to the very end is convinced Feyre MUST love and want him. My exhusband did this same thing, even after I finally got away and divorced him he insisted I loved him and had delusions that he treated me "perfectly" he genuinely felt his lying, Stealing, cheating, emotional and sexual abuse was nothing compared to the love I had for him. He was wrong just as Tamlin was wrong. I love seeing Rhysand be the hero nobody expected! In the first book I thought he was just some arrogant prick and I got fiesty when others said they loved him. But we find out everything he did and he's not longer a "bad boy" (which aren't my type) and he becomes this true king! Feyre is his absolute equal and you see that by the end of the book. It was realistic that Feyre compared Rhysand and Tamlin, because I too have done this and wondered if the man I care about is being like my ex and trying to manipulate me or if there is a genuine reason for the things they do. This book hints at a few mates coming up! Lucien, fuck him for not helping Feyre and not stepping up but I hope he changes and steps up for Elain. Then Nesta! What will she be??  Obviously she is Cassian's mate and I love that! I think their fire will be perfect together and want them to both feel loved. Then Morrigan and Azriel!! I want them to finally make it happen and I think Az almost dying has made Mor realize that he's it. This book has so many elements! The parts that affected me most were the Feyre, Tamlin and Rhysand's growing story, because as I mentioned I've been there and in the first book I thought it HAD to be Tamlin because she sacrificed herself for him, but it's realistic again to see someone give their everything to the wrong person. I want to be someone's equal and be secure in feeling that I haven't picked wrong again. I also loved that it wasn't insta-love or insta-sex with Rhysand and Feyre. The guilt she felt was all a very real part of it too. I loved that everyone slowly became family to Feyre and it wasn't easy or instant either. I can't wait to see what everyone and their relationships become! Not to mention Amren! Where will she be in the next book? Who will she become?? I loved all the small little things in the first book that I look back on and go- damn it! I shouldn't saw that coming! or damn that was a good way to weave that in! I mean Rhys sending the music for Feyre! That was a clever way to show us he always cared. I'm worried that Feyre will have to bed Tamlin and the thought makes me sick to my stomach because he is a low life horrible high lord. I hope that Feyre gets her kicks in when she's there! I wonder what Lucien will do with Feyre back and I hope she kicks his ass too.  But I love that once the true bond was established it couldn't be broken and that true mates and equals remained! Ok, so basically I loved this book and will definitely be buying the next one!

So many things I want to know!! I need the next book!! Go get it!!! HERE is the link

New books to read!!

Hey readers,

Today there was a book sale going on and of course I had to shop because for once I had money and my birthday is coming up so I felt it was a gift to myself! I ended up getting 9 books for $30!!! Yes!!! I also bought a few books this last week prior to this sale! So i'm going to let know know what they are so you can expect reviews from them!
Firstly I've had a MAJOR headache so I haven't finish a court of mist and fury yet, but when I do, a review will be posted! I have fringe runner by Rachel aukes that I will be reading a reviewing! This one was an ARC so of course as always I will give it my HONEST review. I have the cruel crown by Victoria Aveyard that my son got me for Mother's Day that I still have to read. Plus my son has my birthday present (shadow queen) on the way here so he can write in it and give it to me.  The night circus by Erin morganstern, which I just gave as a gift to my friend and bought myself a copy as well because I haven't read it yet. Paradox by A.J Paquette, which I got for less than a buck today during the sale, Cinder which I got in the mail today!! Yay! Plus I picked one up for my best friend because I know she hasn't gotten to read it yet either. Then I picked up Scarlett and Cress today on sale! The eye of minds by James dashner- because I loved his maze runner series and it was on sale! sea of shadows by Kelly Armstrong because of the blurb. Incarceron by Catherine Fisher because it sounded really good based on the blurb. Ruin and rising by Leigh Bardugo even though I have NOT read the first two, but I've been planning to for a while and this book was on sale for $4 brand new in hard back so yes, I bought it! Same with ignite me by Tahereh Mafi, I haven't read the first two but I definitely plan to and it was $3!!! So I need to buy the four books going with these but i'm happy to get the ones I got on sale! I was on YouTube yesterday and ran across a book called Black prism by Brent Weeks and I watched a few reviews on this book and then saw it was only $2.99 on Amazon kindle so I bought it because it really sounded good! The magical system is based on light and the main character is one of the most powerful wielders BUT as you use magic you slowly die or go crazy and he has to get back to his son! So it sounded really good to me!

So look out for all these reviews and of course more because I also have a bunch on my kindle to read.

I can't WAIT to get all these books in the mail! Tomorrow i'm getting the wedding dress by Rachel hauck for wedding gift to a friend getting married this month. I'll write a little note to her in it and ship it off to its new home via media mail!

So basically this whole coping with moving thing stressed me the hell
Out and i'm definitely still adjusting and so it my son and dog, plus i'm looking for work so that's my excuse for going on a huge book shopping spree. It was a splurge but for once I could afford to do it and it was really really nice. The deals were great! My birthday is next week and I deserve a little bit of something I love! I love reading so much and I love holding a book in my hand but i'm still all about cheap and affordable books and I accomplished saving money and getting something I love so I'm going to say it worth it and hopefully I love all my new books.

Here's my book that came in today! Cinder! Cyborg Cinderella! I know everyone has hyped it up and read it already but I couldn't afford it until now so i'm glad to finally get my hands on it.  Hoping it was worth the hype.

Happy reading!! Let me know what YOU are planning to read or are currently reading!! - Bookish Mom

The queen of tearling by Erika Johansen

Heya ladies and gents!!

This book was pretty good! Some parts did get slow or predictable. Some of the Guards blurred together for me but I enjoyed Kelsea. The fetch, Mace and Pen and their personalities. I loved Kelsea's conviction and determination and want to see her become a great queen. Parts with the red queen were really predictable for me. Dark force she uses to get stronger. Typical. I enjoyed Kelsea looking back on her teachings and finally understanding. I didn't enjoy the many mentions of rape so casually and mostly blown off by the majority of characters. I wanted Andalie to murder her husband and kill him slowly and I couldn't quite understand her protecting him. Although I've faced an abusive husband, and I got out, and I did protect him in a way by not talking shit about him to my son and allowing him to love his father, but I've also called the cops on him when I needed to.
I did want Andalie to strike back and take a stand for all the women in the book. So in a way I understand why she protected him to an extent, but I wanted her to take action. I understand in the sense that you don't want to kill your children's father and hurt them, but it's a book so kill his ass. The necklace was an interesting twist and I really want to know who the fetch is! i'm wondering if the fetch is her father or an ancestor of Kelsea's. I loved how protective Pen is and I predict a love story coming involving him. I loved mace and his fatherly role, although I didn't quite agree with Kelsea about him being a dog without a leash. I think he did the right things in protecting her. I see him as a father figure for her. I want to see what happens to all the characters in this story and how they grow and evolve! The ending was the strongest part of the book for me but i'm intrigued and will read on!

Here's the blurb!
On her nineteenth birthday, Princess Kelsea Raleigh Glynn, raised in exile, sets out on a perilous journey back to the castle of her birth to ascend her rightful throne. Plain and serious, a girl who loves books and learning, Kelsea bears little resemblance to her mother, the vain and frivolous Queen Elyssa. But though she may be inexperienced and sheltered, Kelsea is not defenseless: Around her neck hangs the Tearling sapphire, a jewel of immense magical power; and accompanying her is the Queen’s Guard, a cadre of brave knights led by the enigmatic and dedicated Lazarus. Kelsea will need them all to survive a cabal of enemies who will use every weapon—from crimson-caped assassins to the darkest blood magic—to prevent her from wearing the crown.
Despite her royal blood, Kelsea feels like nothing so much as an insecure girl, a child called upon to lead a people and a kingdom about which she knows almost nothing. But what she discovers in the capital will change everything, confronting her with horrors she never imagined. An act of singular daring will throw Kelsea’s kingdom into tumult, unleashing the vengeance of the tyrannical ruler of neighboring Mortmesne: the Red Queen, a sorceress possessed of the darkest magic. Now Kelsea will begin to discover whom among the servants, aristocracy, and her own guard she can trust.

Can she save her kingdom??

Throne of glass by Sarah J Maas review.

Good evening followers!

Let me start off by saying this book was SOOO hyped up! I watched vlog reviews all saying it has the best female heroine ever written and how amazing Calaena is. Well sorry to disappoint but I wasn't wowed and found this book over hyped. I LIKED it, but I didn't LOVE it. I didn't find her annoying and arrogant like some people, but I didn't think she was that big of a badass either.  I probably would've enjoyed this book more if it wasn't so hyped up. I feel like all the hype took away from it because I was expected to be amazed and wasn't. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best female lead I ever read either. I disliked the prince and felt that Chaol was a much better fit and I personally liked him much more. I feel like she's just a novelty idea to the prince and something "different" to attract him. I also think Calaena just wants attention because she's used to being feared and is into the prince just because he's there and flinging himself at her. So that was disappointing to me. This is a fault I find in her character. I'd personally rather her not be interested in men and then finally one day find someone she just couldn't deny she had a thing for. I think Chaol was more true in intentions and more centered and a healthier fit for her personally.

It was one of those books that if I get the rest of the series from the library or free then I'll read them, but I won't go out and spend money on them because I just wasn't very wowed by this book.

BUT don't like my opinion stop you from picking it up! If you wanna check it out click HERE.

My computer is down!

Hey readers.

Excuse my absence! My computer is broken currently so i'm having to use my phone with limited WIFI. I need to write reviews for throne of glass, and the queen of tearling. I'm currently a quarter of the way through a court of mist and fury and i'ma just say that the male lead in my heart has changed! I was all team Tamlin in court of thrones and roses. BUT he's been emotionally abusive as of yet in this book and Rhysand may be the dick who made her spend a week of her life with him every month, but he isn't abusive and he has saved her more than once. So this is me switching teams. Expect a review for court of mist and fury along with a talk about emotional abuse and my thoughts.

Sorry for not posting sooner. I literally haven't been able to get a good enough signal to post!!

Post reviews soon- Bookish mom!
